Retail is a great industry if you are passionate about products and people, if you love customer behaviour, the psychology of ‘why we buy’ and how retailers can make that customer experience as seamless and memorable as possible.

Sarah is the Regional Wholesale Manager – ANZ at Aesop, an Australian luxury skin care brand. Driven by her passion for the customer, Sarah quickly built a successful career in the FMCG industry. She started her career through the Coles graduate program (in merchandise) and became responsible for organic fruit and vegetables, local ranging and other product portfolios. Two years in, she won the Joe Berry Retail Executive Award, allowing her to go on a tour of the major world retail markets that included Paris, London and New York.


Today, only seven years after graduating, she is responsible for the commercial management and growth of Aesop's wholesale business in Australia and New Zealand. Advice for those seeking to start a career in the FMCG sector? “Take responsibility for your own development by seeking out industry leaders and mentors and opportunities to grow your skills and experience. If you are not feeling a little uncomfortable, you are probably in need of a challenge. Do not wait to be asked, use your initiative, and do not assume your idea does not count. I work in a business currently where everyone is encouraged to think innovatively. This approach has led to some incredible outcomes.”
